A FREE annual community event held in beautiful Boolarra
Boolarra Folk Festival

The Boolarra Folk Festival is a FREE annual community event held in the beautiful country township of Boolarra.

The next Boolarra Folk Festival will be held on Saturday 5th of March 2011.

Please come along and enjoy the relaxed and friendly atmosphere, whilst enjoying the music of talented local artists. Our Art, Craft and Food Market will once again provide visitors with the opportunity to discover the work of many local artisans.

The multi-award winning Boolarra Folk Festival is unique to Gippsland, as it is the only free folk festival that is an all-day event staged in one of the most beautiful parks in Gippsland. Our 9th festival is sure to be a fantastic day!

When: This year the Boolarra Folk Festival will be held on Saturday 5th March 2011
Market: 10am in Railway Park (Please call Kristy on 51696226)
Music: 11am onwards in Centenary Park (51696243)
ATM & Eftpos Facilities: Boolarra is a small town with a population of 400 people, so electronic facilites are limited. We do try our best to cater for the large influx on the day, but it would be wise to bring along cash to avoid disappointment.

The Music Stage is located in Centenary Park. Art, Craft and Food Stalls are located in Railway Park. Plenty to see, buy, eat and drink here!
The Information Tent is located near the stage. Please feel free to make any enquiries here!

In 2011 our fine Boolarra Folk Festival Wine will be for sale at the Alcohol Tent and also in Railway Park during the day. As with all our merchandise, proceeds from Boolarra Folk Festival Wine sales go towards funding next years festival. Please also see our Information Tent for Badges, T-shirts, Programs, Stubby Holders, Posters, and Wine, or give a gold coin donation. Please help us keep the festival free!

The success of the KIDS TENT at previous festivals has guaranteed the inclusion of this in 2011. It is located in Centenary Park in view of the stage.

2011 HEALING TENT: Nurture yourself with holistic healing! Information available as well as practical workshops and personal sessions running throughout the day.

Acoustic buskers are welcome to perform in Railway Park.

The Boolarra Pub runs an Alcohol Tent and Enclosure near the skate park. Alcohol bought in this area must be consumed in this area (with the exception of unopened Boolarra Folk Festival wine bottles, which may be bought from the tent and consumed outside of the enclosure.

B.Y.O. Alcohol may be consumed in Centenary Park, but otherwise please observe the alcohol and smoke free areas.

The Boolarra Pub will be open for meals 6-8pm.

BOOLARRA FOLK FESTIVAL LAUNCH @ arc Yinnar

The Boolarra Folk Festival will kick off with a pre-festival launch at arc Yinnar, in the Switchroom on Friday 4th March. The night begins at 8pm, cost $7. Contact the arc office for tickets. Tel 51631310
Featuring Lauren Taylor (with her father Andy on guitar), Lauren has returned armed with her own guitar and some original acoustic pop tunes.

Borderline - experienced musicians Dan Boothman, Terry Cupples and Carolyne Boothman, performing a wide range of songs with a bluegrass and old timey feature.

Nigella and the Celtic Rhythms - a recently formed local act that perform traditional Celtic tunes and songs from Ireland, Scotland and England. They play authentic renditions of old, but still popular, Celtic folk music - jigs, reels, airs, laments and rollicking songs of roving and rebellion from years past.

In Spite of Ourselves - a 3-piece group which began as a "one off" support act for the Gippsland Acoustic Music Club. Based in Tyers, the group's repertoire has grown to include acoustic folk and contemporary music, jazz, blues and electric party and rock music.

Hello my name is Colin

Hello my name is Colin Matthews and I am an original folk/blues musician from Kilcunda in Gippsland. I am just wondering what avenues to take to get a spot in your festival. I play regularly in the Gippsland area as well as interstate, I also have a CD. Thank you, Colin Ph. 0413 396 261
