“Drouin – a small town at war”

Rosemary Blackley, a member of the Warragul & District Historical Society with a special interest in Drouin history, will be your personal guide through the fascinating collection of photographs of Drouin taken during World War Two. Learn about the mysterious discovery of this collection in the 1980s in America and be enthralled by the stories the pictures tell of rationing, waiting for news from the front, farming and small town life.

Light refreshments will be served – enjoy an old-fashioned ‘World War 2’ supper with our presenter and guests.

This Memory

Hand printed works on paper from found objects such as cake tins, utensils, and scrap metal. Collages that combine fragments of printed surfaces, handwriting copied from old documents and mending tissue from museum restoration. A selection of works by this Boolarra artist engage with stories and snippets from the past.

Charge of the Light Brigade

Peter Walker, artist, and Mingara Gallery, Cowes, will present exciting, innovative works based on the theme of “light” as part of the Creative Gippsland festival for the month of May.

The works will be presented on large and oversized sheets of paper and the mediums used will include ink, oil stick, acrylic, charcoal and pastel. ‘Charge of the Light Brigade’, ‘Starlight’, ‘Light Hearted Shower’, ‘The Race to Heavenly Light’ and ‘Dancing in the Moonlight’ are just some of the titles of the works to be exhibited.
